Selena Marie Gomez ( /səˈliːnə ˈɡoʊmɛz/ sə-LEE-nə GOH-mez; born July 22, 1992) is an American singer, actress, producer and businesswoman. Gomez began her acting career on the children's television series Barney & Friends (2002–2004). As a teenager, she rose to prominence for starring as Alex Russo on the Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012).

Gomez signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records in 2008 and released her debut studio album, Kiss & Tell (2009), which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. Her second studio album, A Year Without Rain (2010), also debuted at number one in the United States. Her third studio album, When the Sun Goes Down (2011), spawned the international hit singles "The Heart Wants What It Wants" and "Love You Like a Love Song". Her fourth studio album, Stars Dance (2013), marked a departure from her previous work, incorporating a more dance-oriented sound. The album debuted at number one in the United States and was supported by the singles "Come & Get It", "Slow Down" and "Dare to Dream". Her fifth studio album, Revival (2015), was a critical and commercial success, debuting at number one in the United States and spawning the singles "Good for You", "Same Old Love" and "Hands to Myself". Her sixth studio album, Rare (2020), was also a critical and commercial success, debuting at number one in the United States and spawning the singles "Lose You to Love Me", "Look at Her Now" and "Rare".

Gomez has also starred in a number of films, including Ramona and Beezus (2010), Monte Carlo (2011), Spring Breakers (2012), Getaway (2013), The Fundamentals of Caring (2016), The Dead Don't Die (2019), and A Rainy Day in New York (2019).

In addition to her acting and music career, Gomez is also a businesswoman. She has her own clothing line, Rare Beauty, and she is also the founder of the Selena Gomez Fund, which provides resources to help young people with mental health issues.

Gomez is one of the most popular and successful entertainers in the world. She has won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award, an American Music Award, a Billboard Music Award and a People's Choice Award. She is also a UNICEF Ambassador and has worked to raise awareness about a number of important issues, including mental health, education and poverty.
